The Summit Is On! Registration Re-Opened!

As of 1pm ET, Tuesday, January 30, 2024

Peace and greetings Pittsburgh Racial Justice Summit Community,

As you may know, the original date for the year’s Summit was the Saturday after Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, as is our tradition. Unfortunately, a combination of treacherous driving conditions and illness forced us to postpone the event.

We are pleased to announce that our new date is Saturday, February 24, 2024 from 1:00pm–6:00pm and we have moved to a fully virtual format on Zoom.

The program will still feature all of the speakers, panelists, and discussions that we originally planned.

Registration on EventBrite has re-opened!!!

Click the button below to visit EventBrite to register for the Summit today if you haven’t already.

If you have already registered for the Summit on EventBrite, you don’t need to take any further action to attend. We’ve increased the number of tickets for the Summit, so please encourage others to attend, especially if a virtual event makes the Summit more accessible to them.

If you have any questions, please email us at info@prjs.org

Thank you for your commitment to racial justice and the Pittsburgh Racial Justice Summit!

26th Annual Pittsburgh Racial Justice Summit

“From Othering To Bridging:
Reconnecting for Social Change”

New Date – February 24, 2024

1:00pm – 6:00pm ET

Fully virtual on Zoom

We, the Pittsburgh Racial Justice Summit planning committee, deeply appreciate your enthusiastic support of #PRJS2024 on our new date this year, Saturday, February 24, 2024 on Zoom! We are excited to bring the Pittsburgh community and beyond together for the 26th annual summit in partnership with PTS, YWCA Greater Pittsburgh, and WZUM.

This year’s theme is “From Othering to Bridging: Reconnecting for Social Change”. Our goal is to engage and empower the entire community present in discussions about how to build connections and coalitions across differences to collectively work toward racial justice in Pittsburgh and beyond.

Speaking to that theme, we are thrilled to share this year’s slate of speakers, panelists, and facilitators!

Following the Opening Ceremony and remarks on Saturday morning, the program will begin with the keynote address by Dr. Audrey Murrell, Professor of Business Administration, Psychology, Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh’s Katz School of Business. In her keynote address and Q&A discussion, Dr. Murrell will share her professional experience and research expertise in organizational diversity, equity, inclusion and corporate social responsibility, setting the stage for the second day of the summit.

After a short break, the program will continue with panel discussion featuring moderator Joseph Hall (Executive Director, Kelly Strayhorn Theater) Dr. Autumn Redcross (Court Watch Director, Abolitionist Law Center), Monica Ruiz (Executive Director, Casa San José), Miguel Sague Jr. (independent activist, artist, and musician), dana bishop-root (Director of Education and Public Programs, Carnegie Museum of Art), Dr. Amber Epps (American Public University System and LaRoche University) in conversation about their experiences with othering in their work and how they bridge across differences to promote racial justice.

Following the panel, we have invited facilitators who are experienced in racial justice advocacy in Pittsburgh to join our keynote speaker, panelists, and summit attendees in small group discussions about ways to begin, build, and strengthen connections and coalitions in collective racial justice efforts. Our current and growing list of facilitators include: Dr. Sera Linardi, Sara Tang, Sarika Goulatia, Dr. Aisha White, Dr. Angie Ocampo-Roland.

We are ready to welcome you all to the summit! Thank you for your support over the last 25 annual gatherings and for your continued dedication to racial justice with us!
